Got a Holden Commodore VE that you want to upgrade with a Double DIN radio and climate control system?

Well, now there’s a kit available in New Zealand that facilitates the upgrade.

The new kit, made by Aerpro and distributed throughout New Zealand by leading automotive accessory company Griffiths Equipment, can be used on VE Commodores manufactured between 2006 and 2011 that have a single zone A/C, now with the dual zone versions becoming available soon.

It replaces the standard radio and air-conditioning controls within the dashboard with a new digital climate control unit and digital display using a Double DIN aperture and wiring, including patch leads, temperature sensor and antenna adaptor. Just purchase your own choice of Double DIN radio and you’re ready to go.

Impressively, it provides a factory-quality look that blends in with the rest of the dashboard, using exact grey (FP9350GK) or black colour matches (FP9350BK) and manufactured with high quality ABS plastic moulding with a texture that blends with the factory finish.

The soft touch rotary dials keep that factory feel while the capacitive touch buttons bring the car into the modern age. The fitting kit even includes a USB charging port.

To help make the installation process easy there’s even a helpful video that provides a step-by-step guide to removing existing panels and parts, and then inserting the new items.

Once installed, it’s a simple process to link the new display with the existing system to ensure that it shows the correct information and interfaces with all the controls.

“A number of people want to hold onto their Holden Commodore but would also like to upgrade to a better sound system and the Aerpro kit enables them to do just that,” says Tim Paterson, National Sales Manager for Griffiths Equipment.
