New A/V Upgrade Kit for Ford Falcon & Territory
A/V Upgrade Kit for Ford – Owners of Ford Falcon BA-BF and Territory SX-SY models in New Zealand can now upgrade the audio/visual head unit in their dashboard thanks to the introduction of kits that enable them to undertake a professional-looking installation.
The kits are produced by Aerpro, a leading Australian parts and accessory company that designs new and OEM replacement automotive products, mostly based around audio and digital connectivity.
Among their specialties are kits that enable car owners to upgrade from older audio heads to the latest advanced AV systems, so they can take advantage of integrated navigation and other connected media technology, including reversing cameras, etc.
These new Falcon and Territory kits are designed to accept double-din head units with larger touch-screen displays.
“The most appealing aspect of these Aerpro kits is that they are designed and produced to resemble the original dash layout, in style, colour, and finish – once installed it’s almost impossible to tell that it hasn’t come out of the factory with this upgrade,” says Tim Paterson, National Sales Manager for Griffiths Equipment, which distributes Aerpro products throughout New Zealand.
Each kit is supplied with all the parts required to complete the installation of a suitable aftermarket head unit, including the facia, main wiring harness, steering wheel control interface, and antenna adapter. The only items that may be required, apart from the head unit itself, are any secondary harness and patch leads that are specific to the aftermarket head unit being installed.
Available in either high-quality gunmetal grey or silver finish, the kits are easy for any DIY car owner to fit with basic tools, although Aerpro does recommend mechless shallow-mount head units for easier installation due to their mounting depth.
Features include dual USB pass-through ports that have been designed for connecting to the rear ports on the aftermarket head unit.
The kits are suitable for vehicles with single or dual-zone climate control, and they incorporate integrated buttons for adjusting climate control and various vehicle settings displayed in blue dimmable symbols to further support the factory look. The climate control and vehicle information are displayed on the aftermarket AV head unit, just as it would be with an OEM system. The kits are designed so that the central dash air vents can easily be slotted back into their original position to provide that authentic factory finish.
The kits also allow for the original steering wheel A/V controls to function as normal and provide output feeds for reverse trigger, park brake, and speed pulse.
